How do I create an APA style running header in Word?

Answer

How to do an APA style running head in Word

Double-click in the blank area .5" from the top edge of the document to activate the Header area. The Header & Footer Design ribbon should appear.

Hit the Tab key twice and then type a running head for your paper. (The running head is either your title or a shortened form of your title.)

Hit the tab bar twice after your running head. On the Header & Footer Design ribbon, click "Page Number." Click "Current Position" on the drop-down menu and then click "Plain Number" in the sub-menu.

Double-click on the blank page below the Header area to reactivate your document.
